Impact

What the numbers actually mean

17.9 million kits across 21 countries is the headline. Underneath it are 541 jobs, 22,000 women earning, and 878,000 girls and women who now understand their own bodies.

Six numbers worth reading twice

  • 541

    jobs created

    Job creation

Through our operations we have created 541 jobs, contributing to local economic growth and providing employment in our community.

  • 22,000+

    women earning as agents

    Empowering women sales agents

Over 22,000 women have been empowered as sales agents, earning an income while distributing our products. It benefits them economically and gives them independence and agency.

  • 878,000+

    girls and women trained on-site

    Reproductive health awareness

We have trained over 878,000 girls and women on-site in reproductive health and hygiene, helping them understand their reproductive health and their rights.

  • 17.9M+

    kits distributed

    Significant distribution

Over 17.9 million kits distributed, reaching a large number of women and girls and ensuring they have access to hygienic, comfortable menstrual products.

  • 21

    African countries

    Reaching more African girls

Over 3 million kits distributed across 21 African countries. The same solution, making periods less painful for girls and women across the continent.

  • 154M+

    units of sanitary waste avoided

    Environmental impact

Over 154 million units of sanitary waste reduced. By cutting single-use plastic waste we reduce the environmental cost that comes with disposable pads.

Pad-Up distribution in the field

154 million

units of sanitary waste avoided, because a pad that lasts a year is not a pad thrown away every few hours.

And the parts that do not reduce to a number

  • Keeping more girls in school

By ensuring girls have access to menstrual products, we help them stay in school throughout their menstrual days, preventing absenteeism and letting them continue their education without interruption.

  • A sustainable alternative

Washable, reusable sanitary pads reduce reliance on single-use plastics and cut waste generation at the source.

  • Sustainable development

Our work aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly gender equality, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, and responsible consumption and production.

Aligned to four UN goals

Not a claim we make loosely. Each one maps to something the business actually does.

  • 03

    Good health and well-being

  • 05

    Gender equality

  • 06

    Clean water and sanitation

  • 12

    Responsible consumption and production

How it actually works

  • Hundreds of schoolgirls in uniform holding up Pad-Up sanitary pad packs

    The reach

    17.9 million

Pads in the hands of girls who would otherwise miss a week of school every month.

  • Pad-Up production staff on the factory floor holding finished packs beside a sealing machine

    The factory

    Made here, not imported

Cut, sewn and sealed in Nigeria. Not imported, not repackaged.

  • Pad-Up production team in branded aprons and hairnets in front of a painted mural

    The makers

    Work that pays

A production floor staffed by women and young people from this community.

  • Students seated at a Pad-Up menstrual health education session

    The classroom

    Taught, not just sold

Menstrual health training goes into schools alongside the product.

  • Pad-Up sales agents in branded shirts holding stockist posters outside the head office

    The network

    21 countries

Carried by agents and distributors who build their own income from it.

  • A group of women in matching print making heart shapes with their hands

    The point

    One pad. One year.

Reusable for at least twelve months. Dignity that does not run out mid-month.
